Ranked from bad to worse, these are the states with the biggest percent increase of COVID infections in kids during the last two weeks in July. There was a 67 percent spike in coronavirus cases among kids in Nevada between July 16 and July 30. Mid-month, there were 2,929 pediatric cases. And by the end of July, there were 4,892. Idaho saw a 70 percent increase in children with COVID between July 16 (1,005 cases) and July 30 (1,713 cases). Over the course of the last two weeks of July, Montana’s COVID case count in children skyrocketed 71 percent, from 258 on July 16 to 440 on July 30. In Oklahoma as of July 16, there were 2,191 cases of COVID among kids. But by July 30, that number had climbed to 3,842 cases, a 75 percent spike. By July 30, the state had 399, representing a startling 84 percent increase. The Show-Me State had 2,818 reported COVID cases in kids on July 16 and 5,205 by July 30, which is the worst spike nationwide at 85 percent.
